Worked as it was supposed to.

I have many many photos that I have tried to put together in one place from various family members over many years all from similar events. It was something I had been putting of doing for a long time. This software made it very easy to put all the pics in one folder, then go through all versions of similar pictures in one place. Studies mac app manual. I chose auto select and changed the selection as I went through each set as I desired. I was able to get rid of many versions of essentially the same shot in the 1300 sets of similar pictures it found. I trashed 8GB in one push of a button. I would recommend it to anyone looking to put their photos and videos (I had many version of the same video which had been imported by mistake with a different file name) in order.

You can't go wrong
This program does all anyone could need and handles the pressure well.
I have sorted photos many timnes, made coutless copies along the way and photosweeper made short work of them all.
The rules that are alowed made it simple to keep the GEOCoded versions of photos and trash those not encoded, keywords or not, no problem. File and path length help keep the same 'groups' of photos even if you have them scattered all over.
Over 1.2 million photos and it hanndles it without any problem at all - just the time to load them all of course :)

Could be more intuitive
This saved countless hours of manual sorting, however there is room for imrovement to make this a 5 star experience.
The auto-mark settings are buried in the Preferences menu. I had trouble with the wrong files being marked for deletion, and each change requires another scan…
I only just discovered that you can drag to re-order the auto-mark logic. After importing photos to scan, these critical settings should be PROMINENTLY shown, and possibly with pre-sets such as “Keep originals”. I spent several scans fumbling with the settings to try to eliminate all the modified duplicates, and filename (1), filename (2) duplicate files it was deciding to keep instead of the original, shorter filename.
Exact match is not what it says. I happened to have a partially corrupted original file, but an intact duplicate of a priceless family photo. PhotoSweeper didn’t notice the very noticable visible difference, and marked the good file for deletion.
Without the slider set to exact match, and Time Gap set to Max, be careful you don’t inadvertently delete all your iPhone screenshots!
Very fast, considering the quantity of files to compare, however PhotoSweeper doesn’t seem to utilise the machine’s full potential. Only 2% of my multi-core CPU was utilised during the scan, memory not fully utilised, and SSD read/write speed with pleny to spare. Makes me wonder whether the hours spent scanning could have been reduced.
